GRANTS AND DONATIONS POLICY

Washingborough Parish Council has identified its objective in relation to Grants and Donations to support financially, when possible, community groups, organisations or charities within our area.

The policies set out within this document are:

  • The Council can only award grants using certain legal powers and must be confident that any grant awarded will benefit our area, or part of our area, or all or some of its inhabitants.
  • To review annually the Grants and Donations budget, to assess if provision can reasonably be made for the grant scheme in the following financial year.
  • To review the terms and conditions for awarding grants to community groups annually.
  • To publicise the availability of the funding in the Grants and Donations budget.
  • To clearly explain the terms and conditions for valid applications in order to avoid invalid requests.
  • The Parish Council has adopted an Equal Opportunities Policy and as such will give equal consideration to all valid applications from qualifying groups.
  • To consider donations to other groups providing they benefit the residents or the village's facilities.

The availability of funding for Grants and Donations will be advertised on the Parish Council website and noticeboards.

Applicants will be given full details of the terms and conditions on which grant awards and donations are based, and a copy of the application form for use by applicants. Applications and relevant correspondence or queries should be made to

The Parish Clerk
Washingborough Parish Council,
Civic Office,
Fen Road,
Washingborough LN4 1AB.
Objectives
  • To help fund community groups that would otherwise have limited finances.
  • To assist local groups in running events/activities for the village.
  • To help new groups setting up.
  • To assist the development of existing groups that benefit the community.
  • To donate to charities or groups that benefit the village.

The Parish Council will regularly review this policy and the terms and conditions for awarding grants and donations to community groups.

The grants and donations budget will be annually reviewed in January by the Finance Committee in the first instance, with recommendations going to the full council meeting in January. This review will decide if provision can reasonably be made for funding the grant scheme and donations in the following financial year.

The grant scheme is open for applications between 25th January to 31st March each year. No grant application will be accepted or considered outside of these dates.

Donation requests may be made at any time during the year.

At their April Meeting, the Council will consider the grant applications and donation requests received and make any awards. The amount awarded is entirely at the discretion of the Council and may not be appealed.
